The newly released Ares Amoeba AM-016 AEG, which some will say is the longer version of the successful AM-013 can now be ordered from RedWolf Airsoft... "The ARES Amoeba AM-016 AEG Series comes in either tan or black and is the latest line of Amoeba AEGs which we all know to be more reliable than its predecessors. This particular M4 style is known as the Honey Badger from the popular computer game Call Of Duty.

Ares are known for making affordable AEG that performs very well straight out of the box. They started selling their line of products in 2009 and have a good reputation ever since. Majority of their guns can be upgraded with their own line of parts.

The Octarms rail system uses the keymod system with slots on the 3, 6, 9 and 12 o'clock portion of the rail. ARES have also released the rail system individually with many additional accessories one can apply to it. It shoots at a steady 410 FPS which is a great outdoor gun to use, tested with a 7.4V Large Tamiya type of battery. Though it probably can take 11.1V we dont suggest it till you change the internal parts to be able to cope with increased pressure. Firing modes this gun has are are semi auto or full auto to rain down BB's on your opposition. Sights are easy to flip up and pop back down where as the butt stock can be retracted out with speed which is what it was designed for.

It works with the ARES / Amoeba Electronic Gearbox Programmer for ARES Electronic Firing Control System Gearbox so you can set your AEG to burst fire if you prefer. The trigger response is excellent and works best with a 7.4v battery which is stored in the stock tube. It's a little fidgety, but it fits perfectly so you don't get any rattling.

Players in the United Kingdom may find that prices of airsoft products may just go up as the Pound has lost value since last week and has not fully recovered, with many economists saying that it may still go down further... "It will come as no surprise that the Pound has crashed as a result of the UK leaving the EU. The city is estimating it could last till the end of the year with a further 10% weakness in Sterling to be expected.

We have been aware of this product for some weeks now but we have not reported as Ares Airsoft requested for an embargo which we honoured. Now, we hear from Russians, the Tactical Fun Boys, to be exact, have released the information we have been holding, so here is what they say about it: the Ares Amoeba Striker AS01 which is their first sniper offering under the Amoeba Airsoft brand.

Ares Airsoft are no strangers to airsoft sniper rifles, having released a number of airsoft sniper rifles in the past years. But this is a new one under Amoeba Airsoft, and according to the Tactical Fun Boys, the AS01 looks to be Magpul-inspired design. It has ergonomic design, and will be released in four colours. Initial muzzle velocity is around 380fps.

Hokum, the admin of the Ukrainian Airsoft website, Airsoft.ua, sends in an update on his latest review which is about the Retro Arms CNC Gearbox with a comparison with the Army Force gearbox... "Just about 7-8 years ago, they were quite rare. One of the first pioneers was the modular gearbox made by Pro-Win which appeared to be like something from NASA back then (because of the price as well). The time went by and after a few more years there were more and more new CNC gearboxes from Chinese brands such as SHS, X High-tech, B&C and others. Which are to be exact, weren't completely machined from the single aluminium block. Moreover, many of those brands came from the same actual factories. Surely, there were also fully machined examples from small custom workshops or local artisans who found their ways to the CNC milling machines.

Today CNC machined gearboxes became a common parts and the airsoft market is full of different offers. The competition between the manufacturers around the world had a positive effect on a gearbox sale price, which went down to $110-130 at the average. And now, as we'll see below, competing companies are trying to excel each other with the quality of their products.

Let's review this on two CNC aluminium gearboxes: Army Force and Retro Arms. Sure, they are equal in their purpose and strength for the extreme mechanical stress. At least I never saw a broken CNC gearbox but if you have - please let me know. At the first glance, the difference between them is in precision and small details. However, sometimes, the small details make BIG differences."
